Completed Inquiries

Today we did the final self assessment of our inquiries and presented them to the class. The inquiries are very impressive. I am so pleased with the content, the research, interviews, presentation and over all quality of the work. It is hard to share them on the blog so I have tried capture to effort on voicethread. Also you will see feedback from the students about other student’s work on the blog comments.
Parents please feel try to comment on your child’s inquiry or the review on voice thread.

"While I was doing this Inquiry it made me think about the Treaty. I never even knew about the Treaty till a few weeks ago and I think that lots of people don't know about the Treaty either. I think that New Zealanders should make an effort to learn about it because it is our founding document. I think that the Treaty fits into our unit because the Maori and British needed to understand each other, be friends so that they didn't fight and be tolerant of each other. I am glad that the Inquiry is finished because it was very challenging but I'm proud of my work." - Franziska

This was a really hard but good Inquiry to do. I have learned so much about the Treaty of Waitangi in the past 2 and a half weeks.

I think that I did very well with my inquiry and I learnt lots about the Treaty of Waitangi. I spent most of my spare time doing it which made me finish it on the day.

I learnt a lot from this inquiry and now I think of the treaty of Waitangi differently because of what happened after warders. Next time I will start earlier and gather more information.

I think it was really cruel to move the Cherokee from their land. These people lived in harmony with the land for thousands of years before the invasion of the settlers. I learned heaps during this inquiry, about a topic I had never even heard of before.

I have learnt a lot about the treaty in this inquiry. I now know why it is important to all New Zealanders and how it brought the Maori and Pakeha together. It was fascinating to find out peoples differing opinions. I now know why action is needed and how to respect the Treaty today.

I never knew so much about the Treaty of Waitangi, even though I'm a New Zealander. I was surprised with how much I didn't know and I'm happy with my inquiry.

i think i did a very good job but maybe needed more information and opinion for my two research questions. also my time management was great despite the fact that on Wednesday (8 days before my inquiry was due) my computer crashed and i lost my homework and every other file on my computer but luckily Mr. Eames had a old draft of my homework which he sent to me (via email) so that worked out surprisingly well. overall this has extended my knowledge about the Treaty of Waitangi tenfold

Next Steps
-work on my research questions although they couldn't have much thought or opinion.
-for my evaluation i needed to use some empathy towards the Maori and the Pakeha

I have had a lot of fun doing this inquiry on the Treaty of Waitangi.
The part that I found most fascinating was finding out peoples opinions. All of the people that I interviewed were very supportive of the Treaty of Waitangi and had similar views. The thing I would do differently to improve my final result is to spend more time on the layout because the more time you spend on it, the better it gets.

This inquiry has been a hard topic. I found it easy at times but next time I will use my time more wisely so I don't have to do it all on the last day.

I think that I have learnt a lot on this inquiry. I think I need to work on my time management. I also need to work on personal reflection in my work. After this Inquiry I have a new way of thought on the Treaty of Waitangi

The signing of the Treaty of Waitangi is debatably the biggest historical moment in NZ. After this inquiry I have decided that the treaty had alot of faults but on the whole it was a good idea.
