Narrative Writing

Today for narrative writing were looking at 'Setting' (Orientation)

The Learning Intention and Criteria for Success being:

LI: Using effective language techniques to describe setting. Create atmosphere!

Criteria for Success
- Creative and well thought out adjectives
- Carefully chosen nouns
- Carefully selected verbs and adverbs
- The use of similes and metaphors
- Through your writing create atmosphere by
exploring the senses

As a starter we explored Shaun Tan's Picture Book 'The Red Tree'
Looking at pictures which use images as metaphors and similes.
Using his images we began to create our own.

Next we focused on creating a scene, Capturing the sights, sounds, feelings
and building a complete written environment.
