Inspiration of inventors:
When asked what inspired them to become inventors, many adults tell stories about playing as children. Among their most frequently cited childhood play experiences are: mechanical tinkering, fiddling with construction toys, reflecting about nature and drawing or engaging in visual modelling.
Through learning experiences students will:
• Continue developing an understanding of the inquiry and research processes.
• Look at definitions including, innovations and inventions.
• Talk clearly to a group about the process they have been through in making a toy, and explain how it works. Organise material effectively and attend to the responses of others.
• Use and develop higher order thinking skills.
• Explore the science behind ‘how things work’
• Explore and try a variety the problem solving approaches.
• Create a mini inquiry about someone who has made a significant discovery involving a science concept.
