Report Writing - Literacy Focus

Over the last few weeks we have been exploring ‘Reports’ as our literacy focus.

The Christchurch Earthquake has had an affect on the entire country. Our best wishes go out to the people of Christchurch.

Our first report focused in on the events that occurred on the 22nd of February in Christchurch.

The Learning focus was: The key to a good report is the ability to be able to use relevant facts in an effective, interesting way.

We have been:

Looking at the facts.

  • Discussing details.
  • Creating the criteria for an effective report.
  • Sharing our work.
  • Listening to the writing of others in order to improve our own writing.
  • Looking for opportunities to extend our vocabulary choices.
  • Continually editing and peer assessing.
  • Experimenting with layout.
  • Continually looking at ways to improve our writing.

We are now exploring Scientific Reports

A Scientific Report is much the same as a newspaper report.

Once again …. The key to a good report is the ability to be able to use relevant facts in an interesting way and informative way.
